Why Pilates is Such a Popular Exercise Method – But What About Belly Fat

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates.  It uses graceful movements to emphasize the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

It has become increasingly popular for a variety of people from athletes to dancers.

Pilates results in a stronger, longer and leaner figure.  It promotes grace and flexibility.  One thing that makes it so popular it can be easily adapted for all levels.  Pilates is appropriate for all age groups and quite popular with seniors.  Beginners can start with modified moves and then do more challenging movements as they become stronger.

Development of core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise.  Pilates operates on the principle that if the core muscles, found deep in the abdominals, are strong and working properly, then the rest of the body is free to move gracefully without tension.

Core strength creates stability.  It is created through isolated movement and control.  It is guaranteed to help you trim fat all over the body but most want to lose belly fat and want to know if pilates will help with belly fat. The answer is yes in time but there are things that you can do just for belly fat such as adding a detoxifying agent to lose belly fat to help it burn faster.

There are six main principles of Pilates.  They are centering, control, flow, breath, precision, and concentration.   These are the foundations of the exercises.  Quality is emphasized over quantity.  It is important to do each move with precision.  This will yield results in a shorter period of time with less repetition.

Pilates is different from any other method of exercise.  The focus on strengthening the core and stabilizing the torso along with the six Pilates principles make it different from other exercises.  This makes Pilates good for the entire body.  Most other exercises and sports focus on one area over the other.

Pilates can be done on a mat or with special equipment developed by Joseph Pilates.  The equipment uses pulleys and resistance from the exercisers own body weight.  Different sized balls, rings, and bands may be used for resistance and balance as well.
